Come to the Table

You might think of Dan and Linda Jarms as the face of Faith Bible Church, but after sitting down with them, it was clear to me that they are part of the heartbeat of the church. Their love for their church family runs deep, and they consider it a continual privilege to serve and grow in the body of Faith.

For the Jarmses, hospitality is more than a responsibility of church leadership. It’s a joyful ministry. With eagerness, intentionality, and genuine care, they have spent years opening both their home and their lives, desiring to see love and unity flourish within the body of Christ.

Linda prepares to serve her amazing pesto pasta.

Hospitality has taken different forms as the Lord has guided them through various seasons of life. Yet one thing has remained constant: their home has always been open. From their children’s school friends to new families at church, countless people have been warmly welcomed around their table—and lovingly fed by Linda’s delicious cooking.

Linda’s love for hospitality was shaped in part by her childhood in Italy, where her parents served in missionary work. Watching her parents minister to others left a lasting impression on her heart. Dan deeply admires Linda’s care for people and enjoys partnering with her to make their home a place of encouragement.

One of the things the Jarmses emphasize is that hospitality does not need to be elaborate or perfectly planned. Sometimes it is as simple as inviting someone to share a meal at your dinner table. To them, the table is a sacred place within the home—a place where relationships can grow stronger, burdens can be shared, and healing can begin.

It seems fitting, then, that Linda would share a favorite Italian recipe: a simple and delicious pesto pasta that is easy to prepare and adaptable for gluten-free or dairy-free diets. Add chicken for protein, a generous dusting of Parmesan cheese, and enjoy it gathered with family or friends around the table. Listen to my conversation with Linda and Dan at fbchurch.org/podcast!
