Faith on Mission Church Planting

Faith Bible Church seeks to be a loving community making disciples of Jesus Christ in many ways. One key way is through church planting. We want to see multiple ‘loving communities’ planted around the region. 

CURRENT GOALS

  • Proclaiming Christ locally by planting a healthy church or revitalizing a church in our region by 2030.
     
  • Partnering with other churches, including the Inland Northwest Cooperative, to plant healthy churches that are reaching the unsaved in their neighborhoods with the gospel.

Church planting is costly, financially and emotionally. It means we send some of our favorite people and lots of our resources away. Just as we sacrifice in many ways to send global partners overseas, we will be asked to sacrifice good things in order to send or be sent, even just a few miles away. 

It’s worth it because Jesus is worthy. As Pastor Paul Funchess challenged us after we sent him to plant Trinity Church, “Where do we want the kingdom of Christ to be displayed? Where do you want God’s glory to be uniquely displayed? … As many places as we can get it. All over the place. Everywhere, which is why Jesus said, ‘Go.’”

  • Why plant churches?
    Jesus plan to build his church (Matthew 16:18) and his command to go make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20) has always been carried out through planting and establishing churches (The book of Acts). Sending missionaries and church plants has always been part of God’s plan for making a people for His glory. God has always used a small community of believers planted in a region to reach that region.

    What will it take?
    While budget, attendance numbers and other practical factors are important for a church planting church, the key issue is always the spiritual health and disciple-making culture of the church. By God’s grace, the core of Faith Bible Church is striving to spiritual maturity and a disciple-making mindset. We seek to develop core of people ready to go and a core of people able to step up and fill their shoes!

    What about the future of Faith Bible Church?
    God promises to bless and use a church committed to being a loving community making disciples of Jesus Christ. As long as we are devoted to Apostolic teaching, prayer, sharing life, and celebrating the gospel, God will keep adding to our numbers (Acts 2:42-47).

Dan Jarms

Dr. Dan Jarms is lead pastor at Faith Bible Church in Spokane Washington, as well as associate dean at The Master's Seminary in Spokane. He has been married for over 30 years to Linda, and has three adult children. He earned his B.A. in English at the Master’s College, B.Ed. at Eastern Washington University, M.Div and D.Min in Expository Preaching at The Master’s Seminary. His other interests include NCAA basketball, woodworking, and art.
