Review by Isaac, age 10

In a fantastical world where nature runs wild, a young shepherd boy named Aidan discovers his destiny is to be the Wilderking. And so begins the exciting, adventurous Wilderking Trilogy by Jonathan Rogers. Based on the early life of King David, the trilogy follows the life of Aidan as he fights armies, journeys through swamps, and escapes from a melancholy king who’s trying to kill him.

Over three books—The Bark of the Bog Owl, The Secret of the Swamp King, and The Way of the Wilderking—Aidan is thrust into adventures and mortal danger. He finds himself hunting for magic flowers, traveling through swamps, and fighting giants. Aidan must overcome armies and an evil king. Will he emerge triumphant or will his kingdom fall?

God is woven throughout the story. There were some very inspiring things, like love to the point of death. The theme of this book is to trust God and He will provide for you. Aidan has strong faith in God. He shows others what God can do when he fells a panther and kills a giant. He tells people that God did it, not him. I think the Wilderking Trilogy would be good for readers who love action, adventure, and fantasy and are okay with some blood and mild violence. I really enjoyed the trilogy and think others would enjoy it.
