A conversation with Al Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Doug Wilson, Joe Rigney, and Jared Longshore of Christ Church in Moscow, ID. The portion of the video related to Christian Nationalism runs from 1:30 to 13:50. Three of these four men are contributors to the forthcoming book, Five Views on Christian Nationalism. Their conversation is helpful for seeing areas in which believers can work together toward common goals despite having arriving at those common goals through different theological and political convictions.

Taking Back America for God: Christian Nationalism in the United States, by Andrew Whitehead and Samuel Perry
A recent sociological study surveying Americans’ views on CN and attempting to arrive at a scholarly understanding of the term. The authors have a slightly leftward-leaning bent in their conclusions, but largely stick to the data which is very helpful.

How to Be a Patriotic Christian: Love of Country as Love of Neighbor, by Richard Mouw
An excellent study on American patriotism, which contrasts patriotism with nationalism.

Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation, by Kristin Kobes du Mez
As you might ascertain from the subtitle, the author—who recently spoke at Whitworth University—takes a particularly negative view of CN

Politics According to the Bible: A Comprehensive Resource for Understanding Modern Political Issues in Light of Scripture, by Wayne Grudem
A helpful overview of thinking biblically regardless of the political issue

A Practical View of Christianity, by William Wilberforce
Classic text on effective political activism from the man largely responsible for the eradication of the slave trade. Can be a difficult read due to antiquated language, but well worth the effort!

The Statement on Christian Nationalism and the Gospel
Another attempt to lay out a positive case for Christian Nationalism, but which explicitly rejects the racial elements inherent in many other views. Whether or not one agrees with the authors’ conclusions, it can also serve as a guide for self-study, with ample Scripture references for each point in the statement.
