Evaluating Information Sources: a framework for Christians navigating outside information

Scripture is the primary standard, fully trustworthy and inerrant, and any information that contradicts it can be rejected with confidence. For everything else, seven principles guide evaluation:

  1. Listen to both sides
  2. Remain humbly skeptical of human nature
  3. Understand the scientific method
  4. Trust God's sovereignty while loving your neighbor
  5. Keep your identity rooted in Christ rather than cultural issues
  6. Examine claims like the Bereans
  7. Apply sound hermeneutics to both Scripture and outside sources

The ultimate goal isn't winning information battles — it's loving fellow believers across differing conclusions and pursuing Christlikeness above self-preservation or certainty.
